Brazília, 1977. A negyvenes éveiben járó Marcelo erőszakos múltja elől menekül. A karnevál hetében érkezik a tengerparton fekvő Recifébe, azt remélve, hogy újra szorosabb kapcsolatot alakíthat ki a fiával. Hamar rá kell jönnie azonban, hogy a város messze nem az a békés menedékhely, amit keresett. Egyre őrültebb kalandok sorozata veszi kezdetét…
