Dokumentum-játékfilm egy lakásproblémával küzdő, munkás házaspár életéről, emberi kapcsolatairól és a család felbomlásáról. Irén, a fiatal munkásasszony a szoba-konyhás, peremkerületi lakásban él kislányával, katonaidejét töltő férje szüleinél. A családban mindennaposak a gyilkos viták, a veszekedések és ezen a leszerelő férj hazatérése sem változtat. Sőt, az apának sikerül féltékenységet szítani fiában is a felesége ellen, aki így végképpen védelem nélkül marad.

A film 1979-ben a mannheimi filmfesztiválon nagydíjat kapott, Budapesten pedig a Magyar Filmkritikusok díját, valamint a legjobb elsőfilmes rendezés és a legjobb operatőr díját.

A documentary-fiction film about the life of a working-class married couple struggling with housing problems, their personal relationships, and the breakdown of their family. Irén, a young working woman, lives with her little daughter in a one-room-and-kitchen apartment in an outlying district, together with her husband’s parents while her husband is completing his military service. Bitter arguments and quarrels are an everyday occurrence in the family, and even the husband’s return from military service does nothing to change the situation. In fact, the father succeeds in sowing jealousy in his son toward his wife, leaving her completely without protection.

In 1979, the film received the Grand Prize at the Mannheim Film Festival. In Budapest, it was awarded the Hungarian Film Critics’ Prize, as well as prizes for Best First Film by a Director and Best Cinematography.
