A reneszánsz mester halálának 500. évfordulója alkalmából a valaha volt legjelentősebb tárlatot rendezték meg munkáiból Rómában, és ezt a rendkívüli kiállítást az Exhibition on Screen művészeti ismeretterjesztő sorozat forgatócsoportja elsőként járhatta be. A film kitér római korszakára, soha nem látott filmrészletekkel szemlélteti az antik Róma szemléletformáló hatását, Néró aranypalotáját is bemutatva, melybe maga Raffaello is ellátogatott.

Raffaello jóval több volt, mint festő, a reneszánsz kor egyik legjelentősebb művésze volt, ám sokan félreértették vagy misztifikálták.
