Az 1956 júliusában készült film megtörtént esetet dolgozott fel. Elsőként bírálta az ötvenes évek sematikus mechanizmusait, a munkaversenyeket, és ráirányította a figyelmet a munkások kiszolgáltatottságára. A karrierista igazgató (Bessenyei Ferenc) váratlan döntéssel alkalmazza börtönviselt mérnök barátját (Gábor Miklós), hogy minél hamarabb elkészüljön az új siló. Az erőltetett munkamenet miatt az építmény összedől és két munkást maga alá temet. A parabolisztikus film utómunkái őszre húzódtak, a forradalom miatt nem tudták bemutatni, majd 30 évre betiltották.

The motion picture from July 1956 is based on an actual case. It was the first to criticize the formulaic mechanisms of the 1950s, labour productivity competitions and it focused a spotlight on the vulnerability of workers. The careerist director (Ferenc Bessenyei) unexpectedly takes on his old engineering buddy (Miklós Gábor) who was recently released from prison. The project: completion of a grain silo as soon as possible. The blind drive for a fast result leads to the tower collapsing and two workers being buried beneath the rubble. Post-production of the parable-like film stretched out into the autumn, the uprising in October meant it could not be screened and it was subsequently banned for the next 30 years.
