Haru (Rinko Kikuchi) Tokióban él férjével, a mexikói származású Luisszal (Alejandro Edda). Mindketten rajonganak a társastáncért, még versenyekre is együtt járnak. Egy tragédia után azonban Haru hátat fordít a tánc világának. Barátai végül visszacsábítják a táncterembe, ahová egy új oktató, Fedir (Alberto Guerra) érkezik. A karizmatikus tánctanár gyorsan elcsábítja a különc nőt, aki Fedir által hirtelen a nyitott kapcsolatok ellentmondásos világában találja magát.

A Táncstúdió, Tokió szenvedélyes dramedy a tánc szépségéről, gyászról, vágyakról és szerelemről. A rendező, Josef Kubota Wladyka a saját édesanyja történetéből inspirálódott, filmje azonban nemcsak a családi emlékek, hanem a nyüzsgő japán főváros előtt is tiszteleg.

Haru (Rinko Kikuchi) lives in Tokyo with her husband, Luis (Alejandro Edda), who is of Mexican descent. They are both passionate about ballroom dancing and even compete together in dance competitions. However, following a tragedy, Haru turns her back on the world of dance. Eventually, her friends persuade her to return to the dance studio, where a new instructor, Fedir (Alberto Guerra), has just arrived. The charismatic dance teacher quickly seduces the unconventional woman, who suddenly finds herself drawn into the controversial world of open relationships through Fedir.

'Ha Chan, Shake your Booty!' is a passionate dramedy about the beauty of dance, grief, desire, and love. Director Josef Kubota Wladyka drew inspiration from his own mother's story, but his film is also a tribute not only to family memories but to the vibrant Japanese capital itself.
