–––
A férjével és kisfiával biztos polgári jómódban élő "háztartásbeli" Giuliana, akinek labilis idegrendszerét megviselte egy autóbaleset, reménytelenül keresi saját magát, élete értelmét, a megfelelő közösséget, s közben feltárul, mennyire kihat a sivár-pusztító ipari táj az egyre jobban elembertelenedő emberekre. Nincs semmi, amiben vagy akiben megkapaszkodhatna. Ahogy ő maga megfogalmazza: a tettek elváltak tőle...
Antonioni első színes filmje.

Giuliana, a “housewife” who lives in comfortable middle-class circumstances with her husband and young son, is emotionally unstable after an automobile accident. She desperately searches for herself, for the meaning of her life, and for a community where she might belong. At the same time, the film reveals how deeply the bleak, destructive industrial landscape affects people who are becoming increasingly dehumanized. There is nothing and no one she can hold on to. As she herself puts it: “The actions have become detached from me…”
Antonioni’s first color film.
