Az akkoriban alig ismert és sokak által félreértett betegség miatt az iskolában kiközösítik és bántják őt, miközben maga sem érti még teljesen, mi történik vele.
A nehézségek ellenére John nem adja fel. Felnőttként elhatározza, hogy saját tapasztalatait felhasználva harcol a Tourette-szindrómával élők elfogadásáért és megértéséért. Személyes küzdelme fokozatosan egy nagyobb küldetéssé alakul: hangot ad azoknak, akiket a társadalom sokáig nem akart meghallani.

A Miket nem beszélek a 2026-os BAFTA-gála egyik nagy meglepetése volt: a legjobb casting elismerése mellett Robert Aramayo lett a legjobb férfi főszereplő, amivel többek között a későbbi Oscar-díjas Michael B. John Davidson (Robert Aramayo) realizes as a teenager that he is different from others: at the age of 15, he is diagnosed with Tourette syndrome. Because the condition was little known at the time and widely misunderstood, he is ostracized and bullied at school, while he himself does not yet fully understand what is happening to him.
Despite these challenges, John refuses to give up. As an adult, he decides to use his own experiences to fight for greater acceptance and understanding of people living with Tourette syndrome. His personal struggle gradually evolves into a larger mission: giving a voice to those whom society had long been unwilling to hear.
The new film by Kirk Jones ('Waking Ned Devine', 'Everybody's Fine') is a heartwarming dramedy based on true events, blending humor with a story of perseverance, identity, and self-acceptance. 'I Swear' was one of the biggest surprises at the 2026 BAFTA Awards: in addition to winning Best Casting, Robert Aramayo took home the award for Best Leading Actor, beating contenders including the future Oscar winner Michael B. Jordan to claim the British Academy's prize.
